Spinning and wool dyeing

Flora MacDonald from Carinish is spending an afternoon in the stables at Nunton Steadings showing people how to dye wool using Flag Iris and Bog Myrtle. Flora will also demonstrate how to prepare the fleece and the art of spinning wool on her wheel.

Alexander Carmichael

Nunton is hosting the Islands Book Trust dinner and presentations on the life of Alexander Carmichael. The conference will highlight the work of the great collector of Gaelic song and folklore in the second half of the 19th century, much of it from sources in the Uists and other parts of the Western Isles.
