Monach Island Boat Trips

Hebridean Adventures boat trips to the Monach Islands on 14th & 15th June with local historian and genealogy specialist Bill Lawson.
The Monach Isles are locally known by the endearing name of Heisgeir and consist of five low-lying islands surrounded by reefs and beautiful shell sand beaches that seem to shimmer in the sunlight. Our day trip includes a a guided walk with Bill Lawson to learn about the fascinating history of these islands from the 14th century through to the last island family leaving in 1948. There is also ample time to roam around the islands or relax on one of the beautiful beaches then a boat trip out to the westernmost island, Shillay, and its lighthouse, built in 1864.

Since the Monach Islands became a nature reserve in 1966 there has been great interest in its wildlife and grey seal population (the 2nd largest in the world) as well as one of the largest black guillemot populations in the UK.
